FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK
Here is a project for anyone who fancies taking part in a virtual performance. I’m sure you all know Fairytale of New York by the Pogues.
The Wind Orchestra always enjoys playing this on the last session before Christmas so I thought it might be fun for us to do something all together for the end of the term – even if it is remote recording. String players are welcome to join in as well if you wish.
Simply go to the link below where you will find all the parts as pdfs together with a guide-track wav file. NB. Use the one marked 66 bpm as the others are slow practice tracks.
Click here for a Link to parts and guide-track
When you have practised it with the guide track, simply record yourself using a phone, iPad or video camera) playing with the guide-track in your headphones (so we don’t hear it on the video). When completed you can submit the recording by any sharing platform (eg. Google, Dropbox, We) or by email if the file is not too large to jeff.snowdon@bcu.ac.uk.
A couple of notes:
- The first bar is the click track – the melody starts on the quaver upbeat to bar 2.
- It is best to record it in landscape format (ie. like a TV screen)
- Please leave the camera running for at least 10 seconds at either end of the recoding to give us editing slack.
- When you have made your recording send it via any sharing platform (eg. Google, We, Dropbox) or direct email to jeff.snowdon@bcu.ac.uk
All videos will be stored safely according to the Junior Conservatoire’s Safeguarding policy.
he final video will be UNLISTED on Youtube and may be shared on the Christmas edition of the newsletter.
The deadline for submissions is December 4th.
