History

Glossop Concert Society has been promoting professional chamber concerts in the heart of the Peak District since 1991, largely due to the efforts of the Society’s Artistic Director – Jeff Snowdon

Guest artists have included pianists Peter Lawson, Anthony Goldstone and Sergei Dukachev, the Apollo Saxophone Quartet, the Schidlof, Bridge and McFarlane String Quartets, the Derbyshire Sinfonia and
Northern Chamber Orchestra, as well as more unusual offerings such as the Orchestra of Toyota City.

In recent years the Society has worked in partnership with the Dark Peak Music Centre to promote talented young musicians in the area, running events for the Peak District Youth Orchestra, Dark Peak Symphonic Winds and a successful pre-concert platform for local students.
